What is Ride for autism?

Ride for autism is a virtual event that challenges you (as an individual, with your family or in a team) to ride 25km, 50km or 100km, or set your own kilometre target over 8 days.

This year’s event is taking place from Sunday 4th -11th July.

We encourage anyone and everyone to sign up, get active and raise funds to support people on the autism spectrum! It's easy to get involved:

  1. Click the 'Register' button
  2. Once you have completed your registration, personalise your fundraising page by adding an image and tell why are taking part!  
  3. Share your page with your family, friends and colleagues
  4. Start training and logging your KMs!

How do I register?

Click the 'Register' button at the top of the page and complete the registration form. If you are having trouble during any part of registration please call us on 1800 288 476 and our Riding Buddies can help you or email us at ride@autismspectrum.org.au

Are there any costs to register?

The Ride challenge is free! There are no registration costs, but we encourage everyone to make the first donation to their fundraising page. This helps to kickstart your fundraising efforts and motivates others to start supporting you.

What will I get when I sign up?

You have two fundraising milestones to reach when you start fundraising on your personal fundraising page!

  • When you raise $150 you will receive a Ride for autism drawstring bag - this will be posted to you to the address you registered with!
  • When you raise $500 you will receive your very own Cycling Jersey. Our Riding Buddies will ring you for your size or you can email us at ride@autismspectrum.org.au - this will be posted to the address your registered with.  

Please note that these items are based on your individual fundraising page efforts - anything that you raise will go towards your team page if you have created one but these items are only available from personal efforts.

What are the benefits of getting involved in Ride for autism?

Aside from challenging yourself (and your friends, family or colleagues), getting active and having fun…by taking part in the Ride for autism and fundraising you will raise vital funds for Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) while creating understanding and acceptance for children and adults on the autism spectrum and their families.

How do I create or join a team?

Getting active is much more fun when you do it with others! Motivate friends, family or your workmates to take on the Ride for autism challenge with you.

After you have created your personal fundraising page, just click ‘Create team’ (and let others know the name) or search and join an existing team.

Do I have to ride during 4th -11th of July? 

The 4th - 11th of July is our official riding week and you can choose however you like to reach your kilometre goal - a daily ride, or one big, long ride - it's up to you! Ride any day that suits you! Our Riding Buddies will still be here to cheer you on.

And if you want to start logging your kilometres before then to do even more, feel free!

Where do I ride?

There’s no set event or location for the Ride for autism. That means you can ride anywhere, at any time, in any place – whatever takes your fancy.  Just remember to be careful, stay hydrated and have fun along the way!

How do I log my kilometres?

It’s easy!

  1. Sync your riding app – download Strava on your preferred device and then go to your fundraising page and sync with your app. 
  2. Enter on your page – On your fundraising page click on the - My Fitness Activity - Add Activity and update and post your kilometres manually.

Remember the training kilometres you are now logging will be removed on Saturday 3rd of July, the day before the Ride for autism challenge starts and we can all start the Challenge afresh. 

Where does my fundraising go?

Funds raised may go to our world class research program, families under pressure, autism friendly equipment and necessities for our schools, early intervention projects and important respite programs to families in need. We are always looking for ways to expand our services to more people or to support local organisations to provide more and better services. This is why we are fundraising!

How do I add cash donations to my fundraising page?

The easiest way is to bank the cash and then do an offline donation to your page.

1. Login to your fundraising page - click "My donations" 

2. Add an offline donation and the donor's details so that they will receive a tax receipt. 

3. Make a credit card/paypal payment to your fundraising page.  

How do I update my fundraising target?

Login to your fundraising page and go to "Edit my page" - here you can change your Fundraising target and save by clicking Update Details. 

Why aren't the donations that I'm receiving through Facebook Donate button showing up on my fundraising page?

Facebook Donations are handled by a third party, so the donations will not show on your Ride for autism fundraising page as we cannot sync these two platforms. Donations via Facebook Donate button can take some time to come through to us so we are not able include those on your fundraising page.

Please only share your Ride for autism fundraising page link with your network of family and friends and the donations will show on your page in real time.
