We're fundraising for Bristol and to increase the awareness of Autism
After a few red-flags were raised late last year we got a diagnosis early this year that our youngest daughter Bristol has ASD. Bristol (or "Brisky" as we often call her) is a beautiful little 2 year-old with plenty of energy and love for her twin sister and the rest of our family. We have a great team working with her to help her regulate her emotions and sensory reactions, improve her speech and behave more socially around her sisters and children her age. She is one of the many apples-of-my-eye and I will do anything to see that broad smile and sparkling eyes looking happily and lovingly back at me.
Being involved in this ride to raise money for services to help people like Bristol and others with ASD is very close to my heart and any donations to my ride and this organisation will be welcomed with open arms.
Team Brisky was started by Bristol's father, Paul Allan and his mate Darren Turner. "Brisky" represents both Bristol as well as the lovely single-digit temperatures we're having in the mornings in Melbourne!
We're riding for autism to help create a world where no-one on the autism spectrum is left behind.
We'll be challenging ourselves to ride from Sunday 4 - 11 July while raising much needed funds to support people on the autism spectrum.
An estimated 1 in every 70 people is on the spectrum. Along with their family members, this means autism is a part of daily life for over a million Australians.
People on the spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently. For many, simply coping with the everyday can lead to confusion, anxiety and isolation.
By coming together and taking action, we can help provide opportunities for people on the autism spectrum to participate, engage and thrive in the world around them.
