I'm riding for girls with Autism
I’m riding to raise awareness of the numerous girls with autism who are misdiagnosed, diagnosed late or missed completely, because they present differently. 1 girl is diagnosed for every 3 boys. Tragically, these girls often experience bullying, sexual exploitation, academic and work challenges; and secondary mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders.
I've set my challenge of 100km and I'll be riding from Sunday 4 - 11 July while raising much needed funds to support people on the autism spectrum.
People on the spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently. For many, simply coping with the everyday can lead to confusion, anxiety and isolation.
By coming together and taking action, we can help provide opportunities for people on the autism spectrum to participate, engage and thrive in the world around them.
